Job Description

About the Role
Haigh Group is establishing a new, cutting-edge R&D facility in Oxfordshire. They’re seeking a Junior Mechanical Design and Innovation Engineer to be a founding member of a small team consisting of three engineers. You’ll work in a lean, agile environment with significant autonomy, focusing on early-stage product innovation. This role will give you the opportunity to collaborate with external partners for prototyping and testing, while driving the ideation and development of new concepts.

Your primary responsibility will be to generate ideas that lead to patents and push the boundaries of product innovation. You’ll have a blank slate to apply first principles thinking to solve complex challenges, and your contributions will have a direct impact on shaping the future of our products for a healthier planet and improved healthcare outcomes.

The ideal candidate

Your Skills and Experience

  • Solid academic background in mechanical design engineering, and potentially some work experience with a focus on fluidics, vibration, statics, and dynamics.
  • You’re particularly passionate about the early stages of product innovation and are comfortable focusing on the idea generation stage, and working with external partners for prototyping and testing.
  • 0-2 years of experience (recent graduates are welcome to apply, bonus is work experience n consultancy or start ups).
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically and innovatively.
  • Adaptability and willingness to take on diverse tasks, including administrative and research support.
