Marketing Manager

at Cydea

Contract type: Full-time, Hybrid

Salary: £47,000

Application Closing Date: 31 January 2025

Who they are

They are a small, young, cyber security consultancy that welcomes challenge and values different perspectives. They’re not afraid to do things differently and their clients appreciate them for that.

They typically work with senior clients — like CIOs, CTOs, CISOs, plus CEOs and NEDs — over longer periods to deliver real and measurable outcomes, rather than one-off deliverables.

They work collaboratively and securely in the open with their clients using tools to automate tasks, track progress and responsibility, and share their findings. This is how they like to work.

They work on interesting engagements where security meets ‘the business’ to better understand, communicate and manage cyber risk. That may involve helping to identify the sources of risk to an organisation, how frequently they face different types of risk events, and quantifying the consequences of these to their operations. It may be producing a light-touch Cyber Scorecard or taking a deeper dive assessment into their security posture. They also help boards and leadership teams explore risk scenarios through cyber exercises (or ‘war games’).

They believe in making the world a better place and do that through two specific programmes. Through Cydea x Good Causes you can expect to spend time supporting good causes on a pro-bono basis or helping them with grants to purchase security solutions. You’ll also be expected to contribute to open-source projects through cydea.tools that provides any organisation with free tools to improve their security posture.

They’re a remote-first business so you’ll spend less time commuting and more time doing things that matter (client work, or perhaps doing the school run). That doesn’t mean you’ll be alone: They use collaboration tools to keep in touch day-to-day and have monthly Team Days in different locations to get together, celebrate successes and plan for the future. Often our clients drop by to share what they’re up to and the problems they’re facing.

They want you to succeed and will invest in your development through formal courses, online learning, career mentorship, on-the-job training and regular feedback. They budget for everyone to go on a training course every year and expect you to share what you’re learning. Every week they talk about what they’ve achieved, learned and reflect on a problem they’ll need to solve soon.

This is a UK-based, primarily work from home role, with some travel required to meetings and clients.

Job Description

  • You will be instrumental in professionalising how they approach their go to market, setting up processes and systems with a focus on demand generation to build pipeline, deliver marketing qualified leads and engaged audiences
  • You will be contributing to, and executing their marketing strategy and reviewing their performance. Ultimately they’re looking to generate new business opportunities, increase their media presence and brand awareness, and make cyber security easy for people to understand
  • You will execute and manage digital marketing campaigns across various channels, including paid, to improve lead sources and build pipelines within target customer profiles. This may be standalone, or part of a campaign that spans multiple digital and physical channels
  • You will create and edit compelling content and messaging that showcases our platform and services, their benefits and value. You’ll work with the wider Cydea team as a source of this content, and repurpose it across web, social, email, and other channels and campaigns
  • You’ll collaborate with leadership, product, and sales colleagues to refine strategies, ideal customer profiles, communicate the results of campaigns and manage the marketing budget effectively
  • You will be using and updating CRM systems (currently including Mailchimp, Pipedrive) to manage leads and engage prospects and customers. You’ll track and analyse marketing performance metrics, conduct A/B tests, and leverage data insights to continuously improve our performance and return on investment.

To achieve this they think you’ll need to have: a firm foundation of marketing techniques; experience delivering marketing campaigns across integrated channels; strong written and editorial skills; experience writing for social media and an understanding of digital platforms and channels; have used analytics to drive a culture of continuous improvement; and experience working with designers, videographers and agencies.

They also think it will be great (but not essential!) if you: know how to use Adobe Creative Cloud to edit and design simple graphics for social media; have experience using content management systems and search engine optimisation; know about the cyber security industry or broader technology sector; have tech press contacts.

You will often be working autonomously and take the lead on campaigns and individual tasks, as well as keeping the team up to date. Some activities will require travel to other locations and client sites. That may be for routine meetings or workshops, or it may be to support conferences and events for multiple days. Most of their clients and meeting locations are in the South East of the UK.

The ideal candidate

They’re looking for a marketing and communications professional to join their team. They will have previous marketing experience and they will be delighted if this includes over four years in-house, especially at a business-to-business technology or cyber company.

They’ll have an inquisitive mind and want to improve the world around them. This will come across on a day to day basis as they help execute and review their marketing strategy and deliver campaigns that engage and inform their target audiences. They will have the ability to communicate clearly and concisely to internal and external audiences. They will have the confidence to question and challenge the status quo and come up with innovative ideas.

Don’t think you need to tick everything off in order to apply and be successful. They’re looking for the right person. You may bring something they didn’t know that we’re looking for.
