Park People: Kathryn from MEPC Milton Park
Published on 29 August 2023
A host of exciting developments are in the pipeline for Milton Park. We talk to the Park’s Development Manager, Kathryn Andrew, for a preview of what’s in store…
Hi Kathryn! Can you tell us a bit about your role as Development Manager at MEPC?
I work with the wider property development team on all new future developments at Milton Park.
It’s a role that requires a lot of creativity and it’s always great to see the finished buildings that you’ve helped bring to life – like the Bee House. I take a lot of pride when I see or hear people talking about their impressions of the space or how much they like The Hive Café.
Through Milton Park’s Local Development Order (LDO) – an innovative simplified 10-day planning arrangement – we’re able to provide meaningful development in a short space of time, putting us in a unique position to support our occupiers’ growth requirements with great flexibility. It’s a really exciting environment to work in.
Can you hint to any exciting upcoming developments on the Park?
One of many upcoming developments we are working on is Nebula – which consists of three buildings comprising high-tech R&D and office space. If you’ve entered the Park via the eastern entrance, you’ll likely have seen the space-themed hoarding that’s around the site.
Targeting a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating, we’re planning to construct the premises out of timber and ensuring the scheme is surrounded by enhanced landscaping and plenty of outdoor seating for people to enjoy year round, but particularly in the warmer months.
Signal Yard is another project we’ve also been working on behind the scenes – reinvigorating the existing Park Centre into an exciting amenity destination. By bringing new life and after-work amenities to the area, we’re aiming to create a more vibrant experience for people who work at Milton Park with a social space for people to come together at lunchtimes and into the evenings.
Make sure to subscribe to the Milton Park newsletter for the latest amenity updates.
How does your life and work connect at Milton Park?
Milton Park is a great work-life balance creator. As I live near Didcot, I either walk to work or cycle – particularly on Bike2Work days for the free breakfast!
Having the Park Club Gym on-site makes it really easy to exercise before or after work. I love the green spaces and footpaths on Milton Park, which make for the perfect running routes for my lunchtime Bath half marathon training. I am raising money for Beat charity, their mission is to end the pain and suffering caused by eating disorders in the UK.
What do you enjoy the most about working at Milton Park?
As cliché as it is, it’s got to be the people! I started working at Milton Park straight out of university so the idea of moving to a new place was rather daunting, but I’ve been so fortunate to work in such a friendly and welcoming environment.
I also really enjoy attending Milton Park’s calendar of events to meet people and wind down with colleagues.
