New defibrillator for nursery thanks to fundraising

Bright Horizons, Milton Park’s day nursery and preschool at 106 Park Drive, has a new HeartSine samaritan® defibrillator thanks to their busy fundraising efforts and generous donations, including one from a company on the Park, bringing the total raised to £900.

MEPC Milton Park has matched their final amount to total £1,800 and the defibrillator has now been installed outside the nursery.

The staff and children have been involved in many imaginative fundraising events such as The Great Milton Bake Off Week, Crazy Hair Day, sitting in a bath of beans, wacky outfit day and more!

Vicki Turner, client engagement manager, Bright Horizons said: “The feedback from children’s parents has been wonderful. They have been fully supportive of the team and this endeavour.

“We are thrilled to have reached our goal and that the defibrillator is here which could potentially save lives of children, parents and visitors.

“Our recent “Non-stop Exercise bike” challenge saw team members cycle 160 miles between 7.30am and 6pm on one day which is the equivalent to Skegness. They had very sore legs! We are hugely appreciative of everyone’s generosity.”

Our thanks go to HeartSine for providing the defibrillator and to Calber Facilities Management and Total Electrical, both based on the Park, for installing the device.”

The new device has been registered with South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust’s Public Access Defibrillator Initiative. 

There is also an external defibrillator available at the Innovation Centre (99 Park Drive).
