Published on 1 March 2024
For this month’s Park People, the team speaks to Postmaster, Zaeem Bajwa, to explore the secrets behind the enduring success of the Milton Post Office, revealing his unwavering commitment to optimising operations.
Please can you tell us about the Post Office at Milton Park?
The Milton Post Office has been under my family’s management for over 20 years, 14 of which I’ve had the pleasure of managing.
The thriving foundations of the business were established by my father, Abdul Bajwa. His vast knowledge and service experience shaped the business as a convenient, efficient and friendly place for customers to visit.
What inspired you to become a Postmaster?
I learned the ropes from a young age, acquiring a wealth of knowledge and hands-on experience that made me well-equipped to assist customers when they visit our branch.
I have focused on optimising efficiency of our family business, which our customers have appreciated.
What does your role at Milton Post Office involve?
My day-to-day role revolves around providing essential services, such as handling mail, online shopping returns, currency exchange and the everyday banking needs of occupiers and the public. Being situated on Milton Park adds another layer to our dynamic, with our business-related services catering to employees and owners from various companies.
What do you most enjoy about your job?
I enjoy the busy nature of the role. Even during slower periods, I find myself busy preparing for potential rushes and managing bulk mail items. I find satisfaction in ensuring a seamless operation, whether that’s assisting customers or completing daily tasks.
Does the Post Office benefit from its location at Milton Park?
Milton Park has promoted our services to existing and new businesses at the Park. Being located on Milton Park is a real delight, and the Park’s management team are such lovely people.
I enjoy seeing the dynamic flow of people from all walks of life during their commutes, whether that’s on their way to work, during lunch or heading home, it adds a pleasant rhythm to the working day.
