More sustainable ways to travel to Milton Park
Published on 14 June 2021
The events of the past year have focussed people’s minds on better ways of doing things and on the importance of health and wellbeing, the environment and a balance between home life and work. One of the biggest impacts that we can have as individuals to keep healthy and reduce our emissions is choosing more sustainable ways to travel. We have now made it even easier to make those choices, especially with our extended bus pass offer to the whole of Didcot Zone 1 (not just between the station and Milton Park) for Milton Park occupiers. If you would like more information on the measures that have been put in place to make our buses safe, you can view a short video here.
Now the warmer weather is with us, cycling will continue to be the mode of travel of choice for many of you and, if you are keen to start cycling but need some extra help to get going, we have new maps, free bike and ebike hire, free monthly breakfast for our cyclists and an onsite Bike Dr. We can also offer cycle confidence courses for anyone who wants to brush up on their cycling proficiency skills.
All this information can be found on our ‘getting here’ pages on the Milton Park website. We have made is easy for you to choose to leave your car at home, get some exercise, save money by taking the bus or just reduce the stress of commuting by sharing your journey with a colleague.
With a number of ongoing roadworks in our area, driving isn’t always the quickest option and our new cycle and bus routes map illustrates typical journey times between many of our occupiers’ home locations and Milton Park. You can use our bespoke Mi-Link Journey Planner to plan your journey, check on the busyness of bus and train services or local congestion information and receive live updates straight to your phone.
Our Milton Park Car Share community has now moved to a new platform provided by Kinto Join where you can register to find a car share buddy or even someone to share your cycle ride to work. By pooling your journey with a friend or colleague, you benefit from preferential parking in some areas of the Park and by signing up to Kinto Join, you will automatically qualify for our sustainable travel rewards schemes by being entered into our regular prize draws. Look out for future promotions entitling you to discounts in Milton Park’s cafes for logging your shared journeys.
Milton Park is committed to reducing the number of single occupancy vehicles used to travel to our beautiful green park and to improve the local environment for the enjoyment of all. You can join our growing community of cyclists and bus users by signing up for regular updates from our Bike Users’ and Bus Users’ Groups.
