Job Description

About the Role
Haigh Group is establishing a new, cutting-edge R&D facility in Oxfordshire. They’re seeking a Senior Mechanical Design and Innovation Engineer to be a founding member of a small team consisting of three engineers. You’ll work in a lean, agile environment with significant autonomy, focusing on early-stage product innovation. This role will give you the opportunity to collaborate with external partners for prototyping and testing, while driving the ideation and development of new concepts.

Your primary responsibility will be to generate ideas that lead to patents and push the boundaries of product innovation. You’ll have a blank slate to apply first principles thinking to solve complex challenges, and your contributions will have a direct impact on shaping the future of their products for a healthier planet and improved healthcare outcomes.

The ideal candidate

Your Skills and Experience

  • Proven track record in mechanical design engineering, particularly the idea generation stage, with a focus on fluidics, vibration, statics, and dynamics
  • 5-8 years’ experience in in consultancy or startups
  • Ability to conceptualize and develop innovative product designs with minimal reliance on CAD software
  • Experience in leading technical projects, conducting design reviews, and assessing feasibility
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to guide and mentor junior engineers.
